Middle School Boys and Girls

This page is getting its own position on the menu for a reason.  PARENTS – the time to improve is NOW.  Please watch these 2 clips below.

Whether your child is a beginner, moderately skilled or the BEST player, please watch these 2 videos. A high % of HS players are unprepared because in middle school, they compete WAY too much and do not train enough.

Every year after high school try outs (Nov), Basics receives many parent calls pleading with us to help their kid, a high school player who has just been cut.   Essentially none of these kids are Basics players. We do not know who these kids are.

The obvious question is “What were these players doing in middle school?”

The training choices parents make in middle school are critical.  Rather than bemoan the status quo which is more about who you are playing with and where you are playing, I will communicate clearly here that if competitive basketball is a goal, if making teams and actually playing on those teams is a dream, there is no more competitive choice than Basics.  And middle school is PRIME TIME.

At its root, this is a matter of education – explaining to parents that just registering for teams that compete is short changing your child’s development at THE MOST CRUICIAL TIME.   In other words, competition and competitive growth are very often NOT RELATED.
